The water fountain

This image depicts the prejudice that exists in our world between nationalities. It shows a water fountain with a sign with "white" written next to it and "Jew" is scratched on the wall next to it showing how separate even little things like drinking water once were. People believed that just because they looked different from each other they were actually different in intelligence, importance and even hygiene. It's upsetting to think that the majority of people in our country thought like this but fortunately things have changed a lot regarding racism in the last fifty years. Sadly there are still people and organizations that have a very racist mentality. The majority of the population do not even think twice if someone is white or black or Jewish but fifty years ago they had seperate bathrooms, water fountains, and schools. People thought that their children shouldn't intermingle with other races or they would be harmed in some way. Really this type of thinking is ridiculous and completely illogical. There is no scientific reason that people of different races can not intermingle with eachother for any circumstance. The image is very simple but it conveys a very powerful message about racism and how far our country has come over the years.
