This picture of the mother with two children is very sickening as well. The conditions that they are living in are very unsanitary and disgusting. Also, the top caption read that they had to sell a tent in order to get food and basic needs. That shows how poor people were during the Great Depression and how it was hard for them to make ends meet. The caption also read that the mother was 32 and had seven children. This is the most disturbing part to me because she is very young to have 7 kids, especially during this time period. I can’t imagine how much stress she must have overcome in order to survive. It’s sad but true that there were many stories similar to this woman’s during the Depression. I cannot believe how hard it must have been for this family to survive a single day, considering that they also had a baby to take care of. It’s unbelievable to me how these people lived in these conditions and still managed to keep care of their large families.
