"Granddaughter's Sled"

I enjoyed reading “Grandaughter’s Sled”. The story almost reminded me of a Native American folk tale, like the ones that always explain how things come to be. The fact that the elderly were left to die when they got too old was sort of repulsing to me, as if they were not cared about anymore. Of course, the poem provided as lesson to the reader that the elderly tend to be the wisest. They have the most experience, and we can all learn from them. The fact that they discontinued the tradition forthe reasdon that the grandfather basically saved the town made me happy. I know that it was just a Russian tale, but I think that we can all learn from it and cherish the knowledge that had been gathered of the years.
