Granddaughter's Sled

The story “Granddaughter’s Sled” was about how people thought that elderly people were useless and were not needed anymore. I think that it was written to teach people how important older people are and that even though they may be weak physically, they are still strong mentally. The people in the story did not realize this until they were about to die and the grandpa saved them. I think that this has to do with the time period in To Kill a Mockingbird, in that it takes place during the beginning of the 20th century, where people greatly respected their elders, unlike today’s society. This story made me realize that this is happening today and that the author was trying to prevent this type of society a long time ago, like Ray Bradbury.
