Egypt

Over the last few weeks Egypt has changed completely. The people grew sick of the way Mubarak was controlling their country. They wanted a say in their government, which they deserve. I used http://www.timesunion.com/news/article/Egypt-breathes-freedom-1010144.php as a source and it gave me a lot of new information. They Egyptians definitely deserved the right to have a democracy and it’s really cool that a country could come together like that to overpower a destructive force. I don’t know how they did it because I feel like Americans would have a lot of trouble coming together. Everything’s so competitive here in the United States. The Egyptians were successful in reaching their goal, but unfortunately many were injured during the riots. Hundreds of thousands of Egyptian people marched and protested together. Like the violence, another downside to Egypt causing Mubarak to resign is that the entire Middle East is chaotic. It’s almost like the surrounding countries were inspired to make changes in their country. The Egyptians are obviously much better off with out their former controlling president, and they show their happiness. http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/meast/02/18/egypt.victory.day/index.html?iref=storysearch On this site I read about the “Day of Victory” which is today. The Egyptians are celebrating one week of freedom. Something else that I heard about on the news was how the Egyptians returned to the main square the morning following Mubarak’s resign and came together to clean up. I personally think that’s really amazing. If everyone in the world could learn to work together like they did, we probably would have a lot less violence and hatred in the world. President Barack Obama said "Egyptians have inspired us; I'm confident the people of Egypt can find the answers." I think many of us can agree with him.
