Water Fountain

This photo proves that the United States wasn't always perfect. It wasn't always the best place to live. It wasn't always fair, and it didnt always treat people equally. This photo shows a water fountain, but ther is a sign that says 'White'. I'm assuming that this means that only white people can use this certain water fountain. It looked dirty and run-down and just plain disgusting. This shows that white and black people alike were prejudiced against each other. Young children didnt understand the meaning of prejudiced. But if they were white, they went to a different school than black people. They had a different water fountain than black people. They grew up being prejudiced against black people. If their parents were prejudiced against black people, they would be too. But most young children didnt know the real meaning of prejudiced. There was a time when black children couldnt be friends with white children. Kids didnt know why they couldn't be friends with someone just because the color of their skin is different than their own. Children just didn't undestand, and everyone was so prejudiced that no one could really explain it to them. It's really upsetting that people were so racist at one point in time in the United States.
