Before reading the caption above this picture, I had no idea how badly this family had it. After reading about the situation the family was in, I was shocked. The mother looked like a strong woman, but you could tell how devastated she was. I realized that she does have a husband but he is off trying to make a living for his family. I could tell that these people were strong and hard-working. The most upsetting thing that I read was that there were seven hungry children and the family had just sold their tent for food. The food will only last them so long considering there were nine people in the family , and now they are left with out any protection from the weather. If I had to live this way, I’m not sure how I would survive. I’m so used to having shelter, food, and everything else that I need. It’s amazing to think that less that 100 years ago people were living like thin in the United States.
